The Way of the Gnostic Warrior: Introduction

Throughout the ages, belief in an inner "spirit" has contributed a unique and a valuable dimension to life. Our awareness of the spiritual is intuitive, achieved through some deep instinct that speaks to us of the interconnectedness of all living things. It is Gnosis that informs the compassion we feel for other human beings and that suffuses the mundane with a sense of the sacred. It is Gnosis that translates incident into experience, ignorance into Knowledge by the grace of Wisdom.

The subject of this page is the lanuage of the spirit, which has been expressed in enigmatic and symbolic form. It could not have been otherwise , because the profound truths accessible through gnosis cannot be laid bare by the analyic power of the intellect. Allegory reveals more than analysis, imagery more than literal description, freedom of spirit more than dogma. If the symbolism is obscure, this is in part to give protection to those not yet ready to make the spiritual journey of Gnosis.

In ancient times the special teaching of Gnosis were passed down by word of mouth from the disciples to the inner circle of initiates. The gnostic literature often had many levels of meaning.
